The 4K render of the game is still better quality when viewing its footage. So while the game “footage” will be capturing a 1440p picture of your game, how it displays on the TV will be that 1440p rendered game at the native resolution of your tv.Įven on 720p TV you can tell the difference of game footage rendered at 4K vs 720p. you have to remember that you are streaming a video of your game. Have to look at your TVs manual, or hook a laptop/pc to it and see what the PC says you can select for resolution. I thought most 4K TVs only support the basic TV resolutions of SD, 720p, 1080p and 4K with nothing selectable in between. You can still buy 720p 2019 TVs, year has nothing to do with what resolutions your tv can support. Your 4K TVs might be able to display it, providing it’s actually a 4K TV. If I had ONLY just started a game - I'd have seen that number go up to 4k. I'm sure that's why I thought it wasn't working at 4k early on. So after starting the link with BPM and the performance overlay said 1080p, I kinda gave up at that point and went bact to the drawing board. If I'm honest, I may have had some success earlier if I had realized that Big Picture Mode ONLY STREAMS at 1080p. Under Advanced Client Options / Limit Resolution to: I selected "Display Resolution" ![]() Naturally I selected "prioritize network traffic" Specifically I had to check the box "Use NVFBC Capture on Nvidia GPU" under Advanced Host Options and UNcheck "Dynamically adjust capture resolution to improve performance" as well. I had a terrible time futzing with settings at first and it got to the point that I ran 30' hdmi and usb cables so I could play at 4k.īut I revisited about 6 months later (I hate being beaten by technology lol) an lo and behold, I got it to run in 4k resolution.ġ) my desk monitor was only 2k, so I had to force 4k through the nvidia control panel (DSR Factors).Ģ) my Desktop Steam Client settings / remote play / Advanced Host and Client options were fouling me up. I normally use a USB DAC for audio output, which generally complicates things when capturing audio for streaming, though the log does say "Audio source ", and turning off, changing the volume, or plugging/unplugging headphones from the DAC didn't have any effect on the volume.I can confirm that the Steam Link app (not the hardware steam link device steam sold a few years ago) on a 2019 Samsung th does in fact stream at 3840x2160. Having the Windows volume, the volume of the game (from Windows), the internal game music volume, and my phone volume all at max, it can still only be heard by putting my ear up to the phone speaker. ![]() I've tried streaming the games SeaBed and Devil Engine so far, and everything works alright except for the volume, which is exceedingly low. Click the device dropdown and select the device you use normally, now you can close the volume mixer Drag the volume slider on this to max (or however much you'd like, though you can just lower the volume afterwards from the device being streamed to so I don't think having it at 100% would hurt) Click the device dropdown and select "Speakers (Steam Streaming Speakers)" Right click the volume icon on the tray bar ![]()
